We recently caught up with U.S Sports Scholarships client and current Middle Georgia State student-athlete Katie Roberts. Katie shared with us her experiences so far from her freshman year in the States as well as her plans beyond graduation.
Can you tell us about the experience you have had on your scholarship in the States?
My experience in the states so far has been unbelievable. To get the chance to practice everyday and compete among the best teams and players in the NAIA has been a once in a lifetime opportunity. I’m thoroughly looking forward to my next 3 years of soccer in the States.
What has been most memorable to you about your experience?
My most memorable experience has to be reaching the NAIA National Championships this year for the first time in MGA’s history. It followed a promising season in Conference play and although we lost in the opening round, it will always be something I remember, and sets a target to try and achieve further success in the next 3 years I am here.
Can you tell us about your plans for the future beyond graduation?
Beyond graduation I don’t have anything confirmed, but I am graduating with a history degree so the possibilities are endless. I still have a few years to decide, but at the moment I am enjoying both playing and studying out here.
What advice would you give to someone who is considering a sports scholarship?
My advice would be make sure this is definitely something you want to do, as it is a huge adjustment from life in the UK. The commitment to soccer is relentless and you have to remain organised if you want to achieve success both on the field and in the classroom. However, it is certainly one of the best decisions I have made as it sets you up with life-long friends and I couldn’t recommend U.S Sports Scholarships enough.
Think you have what it takes?
