The A-League is the top professional league. Underneath the A-League is the NPL (National Premier League). This is the semi-professional setup. The NPL has over 90 teams across all of Australia. Under the NPL is the State leagues, which are also semi-professional.

What is the A-League?

The A-League Men is the highest-level professional men’s soccer league in Australia and New Zealand. At the top of the Australian league system, it is the country’s premier men’s competition for the sport with 12 teams competing in the league each season.

What is the National Premier Leagues (NPL)?

The National Premier Leagues (NPL) is a men’s national association football competition in Australia which acts as the second tier of the sport in the country below the A-League. The NPL consists of the highest level state league in each state-based federation within Australia. In total the NPL is contested by clubs from eight divisions; these are ACT, NSW, Northern NSW, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia.

What Can Players Typically Earn Playing NPL?

– $100-$1000 per appearance (not a salary)
– Bonuses such as goals, clean sheet, winning the league etc
– Accommodation can be offered
– Coaching can be offered
– Flights could be paid for
– Visa could be paid for

Contracts vary from player to player and no player is to expect all of the above.

What Can Players Typically Earn Working?

– This will depend a lot on the industry but the average weekly pay is $1200-$1500 per week for a full time employee. We have players earning $2,000 after tax before soccer payments. Great opportunities for players to earn great money while working & playing.
