1. PASS ENTRANCE EXAM

One of the first tasks the majority of prospective student-athletes have to complete is registering for an entrance exam (SAT or ACT). Logically the next important steps are studying for the exam and then passing it.

2. ELIGIBILITY CENTER CLEARANCE

Another extremely important tasks for most prospective student-athletes is registering with relevant eligibility centers and submitting all necessary documentation in order to get cleared to play at collegiate level.

3. DECIDE ON A SCHOOL

Upon passing the entrance exam and having completed all outstanding tasks with the relevant eligibility center prospective student-athletes then review their offers with their designated U.S Soccer Scholarships consultant before deciding on what school they want to commit to.

4. ADMISSIONS CLEARANCE

Having committed to a school the student-athlete then needs to get cleared by their admissions department in order to be able to study there, the same as you would if going to a university in the UK. Again the student-athletes designated U.S Soccer Scholarships consultant would provide all required support to guide them through this process.

5. VISA APPLICATION

One of the last but arguably most important stage in the process is getting your student visa approved by the U.S Embassy, which can only take place once you have been cleared by your chosen university’s admissions department.

The competition for a soccer scholarship is extremely fierce so we strongly recommend starting the process as soon as possible. Ideally, the process of applying for undergraduate study in America will begin 1-1½ years before enrollment at a U.S university.

1 1/2 YEARS BEFORE ENROLLMENT

Contact U.S Sports Scholarships to arrange an initial consultation and to learn more your eligibility for a place at an American university. Based on suitable universities we will decide whether you need to take an entrance exam (such as the SAT or ACT).

1 YEAR BEFORE ENROLLMENT:

If you have not already, register and sit an admissions test before then working on your admissions applications and scholarship search.

LEAD UP TO ENROLLMENT:

Submit your applications with regular admissions deadlines tending to be in December/January. You will then receive admissions decisions by post or email and can then notify the universities of your decision and apply for your visa. Enrollment at your university will begin in August.
