U.S Sports Scholarships is delighted to announce that our Premier Athlete client Josh Wells, has signed a professional contract with English Championship club Middlesbrough FC.
The highly talented centre-back, 18, has played first team football for our partners at Lowestoft Town and joins on a professional contract from July. Josh showcased his skills on trial with Boro’s U18s and U23s and even scored a last-minute winner against Wolves on his U18s debut.
We wish Josh all the very best. His long term aim was always to become a professional and no doubt he would have ended up reaching that goal following a college career in America but fortunately for him he has been able to fast track that goal and secure himself a two year contract in England and no doubt an opportunity too good to turn down as much as he wanted to play and study in America. For many of our men’s soccer players, particularly those released as scholars from professional club academies, the ultimate aim is to become a professional footballer and we therefore realise that America is more of a plan b option but that is absolutely fine and a sensible way to approach your career in keeping your options open because as one door closes another one opens and if you are good enough you will eventually get picked up.
