Rob played pro youth football with Dundee United until he was 15 at which point it started to clash with his budding field hockey career where he was representing Scotland U16s.

Having represented Scotland at all age group levels Rob went on to win his first cap in 2018, scoring against USA. Following this he was selected to represent Team Scotland at the 2018 Commonwealth games in the Gold Coast and subsequently the 2022 Birmingham games. He has achieved 45 senior caps to date.

Academically, he studied Psychology at undergraduate level and subsequently Sport Psychology at Masters level so he knows how important it is for student-athletes to be able to balance life between sport and school.
