Players looking to go out to America on a soccer scholarship in two years’ time, typically aged between 15-17, have the opportunity to play and study in one of our Development Squads at the EDSV Academy in Hertfordshire or the AFC Sudbury Academy in Suffolk.
Our development squads give players the opportunity to participate within a highly professional and successful academy environment, whilst supporting the most important part of this whole process, their academic development.
Just like our selective process for recruiting players at U.S Sports Scholarships, our development squads have a maximum of 50 places on their rosters. Quality is the primary objective not quantity. Our development squads recruit a maximum of 24 players a year so competition for places is extremely high. Restricting our squad size allows our coaching staff to stay on top of our current academic success rate, which is over 90%.
Members of our Development Squad receive many benefits including; daily access to professional coaching and physiotherapy, having all home games filmed – enabling us to put together a comprehensive highlight video to circulate to American college coaches and receiving bespoke nutrition and strength and conditioning programmes.
Our EDSV development squads are headed up by Chris Watters (EDSV) and Danny Laws (AFC Sudbury) who both have over 10 years’ experience of teaching and soccer coaching at the highest level. They have worked with Professional Clubs through to the foundations of sport and have used all their knowledge to provide this service. If you think that you would be interested in learning more about the opportunity of joining either one ahead of making the move to America please contact us.
