//Our Client Shares Her Experiences of a Soccer Scholarship in America
We recently caught up with U.S Sports Scholarships client and current Southeastern Louisiana University student-athlete Megan Gordon. Megan shared with us her experiences from her time in the States so far as well as her plans beyond graduation.

Can you tell us about the experience you have had on your scholarship in the States?

My experience so far has been incredible and I’m lucky to still have two years left. I’m able to play competitively at the highest level whilst obtaining my degree. Currently I am studying Kinesiology with a concentration in Fitness and Human Performance which I aim to make a career out of following university. Coming to America has opened up so many opportunities for me and allowed me to love playing even more than I did before. I’ve grown as a person and player massively through this experience.

What has been most memorable to you about your experience?

There have been so many memorable experiences in such a short space of time: I’ve met some of the best people in my life who are now family, we’ve grown massively as a team and I’ve got to travel to so many places. However, I’d say the most memorable experience was being voted captain in my sophomore year by the team along with two other girls, so now I have two years to hopefully help lead this team to great things.

Can you tell us about your plans for the future beyond graduation?

I have various options so I’m still undecided what I want to do straight after university, but I’d like to consider playing pro for a while if the opportunity arises wherever that may be based, but I would also like to continue education to gain my masters hopefully in Nutrition.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering a sports scholarship?

Those nerves and doubts are only temporary, it will be scary, but it really is a life changing opportunity that you just have to go for. I’ve wanted to go to America on a scholarship since I was as young as I can remember, so when the opportunity finally came it was scary, but so exciting. Take time in your decision and make sure it is right for you but believe me you end up having a family half way across the world so when times get tough, they make it easier for you. Two years down and I cannot wait to experience two more, I wouldn’t change this experience or where I am.

Think you have what it takes?
